I thought it had been a while since I last updated. When I logged on to update I realized just how long it had been over a month. Where to begin:
Emily continues to work on mastering the whole concept of walking with RGO's and her walker. She is making progress. Though the progress is slow, it is evident and exciting. Emily enjoys walking (most of the time) and even asks to put on her braces and use her walker. Walking has proven to be beneficial to Emily's health. Prior to walking Emmy's kidney was beginning to show signs of reflux (a condition where urine backs up into the kidney). At her last appointment her kidney showed no signs of reflux. There is a direct correlation between walking and the function of bowel and bladder. We had always heard of the health benefits to getting her into her braces but never was it so real as when we received this news.
When she isn't walking, Emmy enjoys reading stories, sorting buttons, talking on the phone, and playing with her Fisher Price Little People. She is quite the character. Her vocabulary grows daily. Yesterday's words were: "grandma", "grandpa" and "teeth". She has a wonderful personality and is an absolute joy to be around.
As for our wonderful niece... well, she is no longer a student at West Salem High School. Effective this week, she a student at Connections Academy. It is a virtual school, through the public school system, that allows her to go to school at home. West Salem proved to be a difficult transition for her and she was not happy, nor excelling there so we began to explore other options. Connections was something I
had researched a couple of years ago so as we began to look at alternatives it just seemed like a perfect fit for Ash. She is very excited about her new school opportunity and we are all looking forward to her progress.
Thank you to all who have been praying for Bill's job over the past several months. He received a phone call yesterday from Boulder, CO. It is a call we have been waiting, hoping, and praying for since October. The company that he has been indirectly working for wants to hire him permanently. With the permanent placement he will have a bit of a raise now and another in six months. We will also have medical benefits in six months. He is not only very excited but also very relieved as we were beginning to wonder what his future with this company would hold. Please continue to keep his job in your prayers as he makes the transition from the temp. company to the permanent one. He will have to travel again in April (to New Mexico) for additional training. But then he should be home for a while again.
We appreciate all of the prayers and emails. Thank you! They are an encouragement to us. Well, I guess that about sums it up for now. Its time for bed. Good Night!
