Lions and Tigers and Bears... Oh My!

Well, ok, there were no lions and there were no tigers but there were bears. We visited the Portland Zoo for the first time on Saturday. The weather was... (surprise, surprise...) overcast and drizzling but it turned out to be a nice day to visit. There weren't too many people there and the animals were, for the most part, active. At first, Emmy wasn't too sure about the zoo. We started with the seal lions and I think they were a bit overwhelming. Once we moved to the smaller (less active) animals she decided it wasn't such a bad place and by the end of our visit she really liked the zoo and hasn't stopped asking to go back.

There were two bald eagles and they were beautiful.

And of course a visit to the zoo isn't complete without Auntie Dawn's elephant

Silly guy!

Emmy's favorite... the bobcat. There were two of them and they were constantly on the go. Emmy was sitting in her chair watching them and flapping her arms like she was flying. She got so excited when one would come near the window. I don't even know how long we stood at this exhibit but it was a long time.
