The Adventure Continues

We got some exciting news today! While we were at our Shriner's appointment today we learned that Emmy is ready to begin learning to walk with fore-arm crutches. Her therapist took her measurements and took, the tiniest crutches I have ever seen, down to the brace shop to be custom fitted just for her. We will probably get them during next week's appointment. I am very anxious to see what she does with them. She still requires a great deal of assistance in walking with her walker and her PT told us that this is a whole different ball game so I'm not at all sure what to expect. Originally we were told that she wouldn't be fitted for crutches until she was at least three or four so this came as quite a surprise for us.

We had my aunt, Emmy's "Auntie Nana" joining us for the first time today. She got to help Emmy walk and through a tour of the hospital she
was able to learn more about Shriner's and the amazing gift that they are to the families that they help. Emmy loved having her there. (The lovely dark pink stripe down Emmy's shirt is from drinking out of a regular cup because I had forgotten her sippy cup in the car-OOPS!)

After our appointment we headed to lunch and then it was off to a, previously unexplored, fabric store in the Portland area where we oooood and awwwwwd over the fabric selections and patterns. We ended up picking out a new bag pattern and some wonderful Asian fabric for an adorable handbag for me to make for my
aunt. I can't wait to get started and to see what it is going to look like. Following the fabric store it was time to head for home where Dada had dinner prepared when we walked in the door. (What a good husband!)

"UP DADA!"
