Emmy and I returned last Thursday from a week in CA. We were able to be there for Jeff's memorial service.

My niece, Maya (Ashley's youngest sister)We spent time with my family, Auntie Dawn Elephant, and Auntie Christy. Emmy and I were able to spend a morning at Disneyland, attended a Memorial Day Service, and we went to my nephew, Billy's, Western program at his school.
My nephew, Billy, at his school performance (Ashley's brother)
Once we returned from California, we went straight into Ash's end of the year activities. On Thursday she had rehearsal for her home school choir concert and then the concert Thursday night. They performed at a church about 45 minutes from our house and did a joint concert with that church's teen choirs. It was a wonderful performance and was fun to see her on stage again. She has another performance tomorrow night along with the home school band, orchestra and children's choirs.

On Friday we went to Ash's Oregon Connections Academy end of the year picnic. There were several hundred families there. There were organized games and the eighth graders had a graduation ceremony at the park. Ash and a friend of hers (she met her at an earlier ORCA activity) spent their time playing with Rubik's Cubes. Her friend can solve it in a matter of minutes so Ash is inspired to learn how to do it as well. Of course, since it was fun for Ash... it was also fun for Emmy so here is a picture of the two girls efforts to solve the Rubik's Cube.
