After a week off, Emmy continued with Therapeutic Riding today. She spent the first half an hour using her braces to walk and then to stand next to a horse. Emmy got to paint the horse again today, but didn't find it nearly as fascinating as she did week before last. When it came time to mount her trusty steed she was placed on a new horse. This one was smaller but had a completely different gait and it wasn't nearly as smooth as the horse she had been on up until this point. Emmy did really well with the new horse, much to the surprise of the therapist and the owner. The therapist thought it might be because the choppier gait gave Emmy's nerves a more distinct message thus allowing her muscles to make the necessary accommodations. I find it all so interesting! Grandma Carol went with us today so she took the first shift walking next to the horse (and I was able to grab some new photos). Here are the pictures from today:
