Making It Official!

Last month Emmy, Nana and I had the opportunity to attend the Spina Bifida Association's National conference in Tuscon, AZ. There were over 700 people in attendance, some were individuals with SB and others were family members. It was an AMAZING experience! For one week the outside world stood still and all that mattered was meeting new friends and learning more about SB. The week was filled with lectures, activities, meals, and socializing.

It was one week out of the year where everyone with SB was equal, their disabilities were overlooked and they were seen for who they were not what they looked like or what equipment they used. I left Arizona with a commitment to making sure that Emmy has the opportunity to go the conference each year. As Emmy grows up she will have a large group of friends her age at the conference...there were a number of two year olds running around.

While there, I signed a much anticipated document which allowed us (Bill and I) to officially begin the Spina Bifida Association of Oregon. This is something we have been working on since shortly after Emmy was born. There has never been a group in the state of Oregon. We are so excited to see what God has in store for this group. This week we spent time creating a website for Spina Bifida Association of Oregon (which you can find in the list of links on the side of this blog). It has been positively received by both the medical community and the families and individuals with Spina Bifida within and around Oregon. Please pray for us as we get this off the ground. Pray that God will bless our endeavors and more importantly, that He will bless the lives of those we serve.
